Fields On Westlake Wedding | Prince Edward County

Steph & Dan’s love day at Fields On West Lake in Prince Edward County was filled with romance and love. I always get excited when I receive a wedding inquiry in my inbox, when I received Steph’s saying they booked at Fields On West Lake and wanted to include me in her wedding plans, I did a little happy dance knowing I would finally get to photograph a wedding at the best venue in this area. This intimate vintage affair was perfectly suited for this beautiful rustic barn venue located in Bloomfield, Ontario. The barn sits on a beautiful piece of property in the Ontario countryside that displays a charming farm house surrounded by barns, a sheep shed, apple trees, corn fields, and other scenic surroundings. The bride and groom exchanged vows down in a field that sits in front of the cutest little pond in front of their closest friends and family. I was so thrilled to be included in this special time in Dan & Steph’s lives, wishing them years of happiness and love. Oh and if you’re interested in getting hitched at Fields on Westlake, I would love to be included in your wedding plans too!

Wedding Photography Workshop

Last month I attended my very first Wedding Photography Workshop in Peterborough. I was soooo excited when I saw that the amazing Ash Nayler Photography was teaming up with Jono and Laynie Photography , a talented husband and wife photography duo to host their first workshop. I signed up immediately!

For those of you that have followed the Niche journey over the last few years, you know that this is my first Wedding Season shooting as a solo photographer. I must admit, by the end of last year’s wedding season I was in a major slump and feeling pretty discouraged. I felt tired, burnt out, and uninspired. I’m now certain most experience this throughout our photography careers. Sometimes you feel at the top of your game, making art that inspires you. Sometimes you feel that you truly suck at everything, and always have. Other times, you’re just in the middle, feeling blah.. if only you were a little more motivated. I’ve come to learn and accept that this is all a part of the ‘creative cycle’.

One of the goals I set for myself at the beginning of this year was to attend at least one photography related function every year. Attending this workshop was exactly what I needed. It was a breath of fresh air, it gave me a whole new outlook on my photography. This workshop was a perfect way to regain confidence in myself and learn some new tricks as I approach a busy new wedding season. As I continue to practice, learn and grow I now have a new great network of mentors and even new photog’ friends to help support me along the way.

If you haven’t attended a workshop and are considering it I strongly encourage you to do so. It’s so encouraging to learn with other like minded people and watch photographers whose work you admire. It made me feel so inspired to shoot. To try new things. To better my skill and technique… I am feeling inspired with a new energy and gratitude towards photography.
